The stakes are so high that we can’t just give up right now.
Forty people turned up outside the Civic Centre in Reading on Tuesday to call for a fair voting system. The new coalition government’s proposals for a new alternative vote electoral system do not even come close to being a fair system. If they are introduced we will have lost any chance for progressive political change in the UK for a whole generation.
We’ll be out again on Friday, standing up to be counted in favour of a new, fair, voting system. We’ll be at the Queen Victoria Statue outside the Old Town Hall at the end of Friar Street between 6pm and 7 pm. Hope you can join us – bring placards and posters and wear your favourite colours 😉
